1.
Can you introduce the group and the musicians? Armistice
was founded in 1992. We did our first gigs a few months
later in 1993, when we released the first demo-tape, too.
Two years later in 1995 we recorded and released our
"Artful Killing" Maxi CD. After the release of
"Artful Killing" the band toured through
germany. Well, after many gigs and two years later it was
time to release a fulltime record, so we went to the
studio again and recorded the "Tied" CD to
release it on Boomeräng Music Publishing in Germany .
After another year of touring around David Büttner left
the band. He had some private problems. We tested a few
singer, but at last we decided that it would be better
that I would do the vocals. This was the best solution for
the band and the change did`nt take long time to get the
same or better quality as it was before. In 1999 the time
was right to release another CD. At the moment in germany
the True Metal hype is on and I think with
"Airraid" we showed that there are still german
Thrash bands around. The "Airraid" CD brought us
a deal with a german record company called Black Arrow
Production. On january or february 2000 a new Armistice CD
will hit the stores, stay prepared. O.K. now to the band,
Armistice is Manfred Hockauf, 28 years old, rhythm and
lead guitar, Stefano Casto, 23 years old, bass, Stefan
Paster, 23 years old, drums and I: Stefan Fischer, 23
years old, vocals and rhythm guitar. 2.
What are your influences and what kind of Metal do you
play? Our main influences are Annihilator, Slayer
and most of the old Bay Area Thrash bands. We play Thrash
Metal somewhere between the bands I named before. 3.
Can you talk about your last production? The last
production was recorded in Manfred`s own studio, we call
it "Rattlesnake-Chickenshake", let me tell you
the story to this funny name: Well, our drummer had a few
problems with his drumset and the recording equipment,
everytime we tried to record "Worse than
yesterday.." he broke down in the middle of the song.
I thought I must go crazy, cause we tried more than 20 or
30 times to record this fucking song. I was total pissed
of and started to giving him bad names and after another
broke down of the drums we found a plastic rattle-egg
lying on the ground of the studio, showed it our drummer
and said to him: "If you don`t make it right soon, we
will put this plastic egg right into your fucking
ass........hahaha". Well I think he thought about
this words, because a short time later the song was
recorded well............ We gave the studio the name of
the plastic egg:
"Rattlesnake-Chickenshake"-Studio. But let us
talk about the production, Manfred did all the mixes and
he also did all the engeneering. I like the sound of the
CD, it is very powerful and our label liked it, too. They
sayed it`s o.k. when we record our next release in our own
studio, too and not in the labels studio. 4.
What do your songs talk about? Our songs most talk
about war. We like war lyrics, you can write so much about
and it is always very heavy. But we also write about
individualism or problems of society. Sometimes we do a
funny lyric like "Worse than yesterday". So I
think we do lyrics which interest many kind of listeners. 5.
Can you speak about the Metal scene in your country? Here
in germany we have got many True and Black Metal bands, it
is very trendy to play this styles at the moment. We don`t
care about that. I have seen many trends come and go for
example grunge or hardcore. Every style comes back. So we
hope that someday the good old Thrash comes back. In
germany it is getting very difficult to find some clubs to
play live. Not many club-owners are interested to organize
a Metal concert. It`s getting a problem and we are looking
forward to play outside of germany. 6.
Have you played recently on stage? The last gig was
an open air near Munich on summer. The next gigs are in
Munich, Berlin, Plauen and Oelsnitz in the east of germany
in early december. This year we haven`t played so much on
stage like the other years. There was to much trouble with
the new songs and recordings. So we had no time to do many
gigs. 7. Do you like the french
cheese "Camembert"? What a funny
question!!! I like many kinds of cheese and of course
"camembert" is one of my favourites, too. 8.
Your projects? There are no projects. I have got
enough to do with Armistice. I spend all my energy, time
and money in this band. I think musicians who do much
projects, haven`t got time to do one band good and
perfect. 9.Some words to the
frenchies listeners / readers? We recive the best
reactions out of france, what should I say, we are pretty
lucky about this and I really hope that someday we can
play live in france. We have produced a Thrash Metal CD
just for people like you, the songs are like the music we
like to hear private. This is no commercial music !!! So
it is great that there are people in france who like to
hear our music. Here in Germany not many people like to
hear our songs. Dear people in France, please don`t forget
the name ARMISTICE, we will release a new CD soon and you
can be sure that all french radio stations will get it as
fast as I can. Thanks a lot for listening to this
interview !!! If you wanna know more about Armistice,
please visit our website: www.armistice.de and please
don`t forget to sign our guestbook..... Greetings from
Germany!!!
Hope
to see you someday,
Stefan
